Connection is Critical

Picture
At NuLink, we understand the importance of connection.  21st Century Learners need to experience a connection with curriculum, multiple sources of information, and other students.  You can see the benefits of the commitment as you explore this site.  We asked our students to comment on the difference between other educational experiences and their time at NuLink.  Rachael’s comments about connection justify our efforts.

From Rachael's Point of View...

“One of the biggest differences between this school and my old school is that I feel like I’m a part of something.  I barely knew anyone at my old school.  Some of my teachers didn’t even know my name.  Now, I really know my classmates.  We learn a lot from each other.  Not only do I have a bigger say in the way I do stuff, but here, my thoughts and opinions matter.  School is not something that is disconnected from the rest of my life.  I feel like my opinions and thoughts are appreciated and a valuable part of what my class learns.  And my classmates are just as connected and valued as I am.  Did you see all those commercials where the guys take credit for the newest version of windows? “It’s my idea.”  That’s how I feel about school now.

“And it doesn’t stop with being in touch with my teachers and classmates.  I connect with all kinds of experts.  We don’t read about Bill Gates from a book, we listen to him lecture, interact with his blog.  It’s crazy.  There is so much info out there and we have access to all of it.  If we ever question the accuracy of something we find, my teachers and classmates work together to determine if its junk or something we should believe.  We’re a team and work together to determine what’s real and what’s wrong.

“School was so much work before.  And now, I’m just excited to learn.  It’s fun.”
